By the time most women have reached their late 40's the supply of eggs remaining in the ovaries has fallen to low numbers. Follicle Stimulating Hormone (F.S.H.) is the main hormone involved in producing mature eggs but the eggs that now remain are unable to respond as well to F.S.H. as they did when they were younger. F.S.H. is always present in the body, but the pituitary gland produces more of the F.S.H. hormone when the ovaries start failing to release eggs in an attempt to get your ovaries to respond and cause the remaining eggs to mature.
This test is suitable for you to do at home and measures the levels of F.S.H. in a sample of your urine (includes 3 test - Cassette Format). High levels of F.S.H. can signal that your body is entering menopause.
